Emergency Medical Technician - Initial Course

This hybrid course is a combination of online hybrid learning and in-person hands-on skills located in Pine River, MN. Students will complete online lectures between skills sessions. Skills sessions will focus heavily on hands-on skills and scenario practice. Students will need a computer or tablet with reliable internet access for this course.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in ambulance ride along opportunities to fulfill the clinical component of this course. While not required, it is encouraged for students to participate in this opportunity. To participate in the ambulance ride along opportunity, students must meet requirements regarding background checks, TB testing, and vaccination requirements that are set by the clinical site.

Course Cost Includes: Required book, online course access, class polo shirt, AHA BLS CPR Certification, NREMT psychomotor exam, EMT Student Kit (ID badge, shears, Stethoscope, Blood Pressure cuff, Pen Light).
The cost does NOT include: EMT uniform pants, boots, belt, background, fingerprinting or medical fees if participating in the ambulance ride along opportunity, meals, travel, lodging, or NREMT written exam fee.

Students who successfully complete the course will be prepared to challenge the NREMT psychomotor and cognitive exams to gain their Emergency Medical Technician certification. This course is designed to provide the attendee with entry level EMT skills to prepare them to enter the Emergency Medical Services workforce. This course follows the National EMS Educational Standards adopted by the State of Minnesota for Emergency Medical Technician education requirements.

Skills Labs will be located in Pine River, MN: (Sessions are 9am-5pm) - Students may not miss more than two lab sessions. Missed lab sessions are required to be made up outside of regularly scheduled class hours. Skills lab dates are:

**Cancellation Policy: Registration cancellations will be accepted, in writing, until 4 weeks from the course start date for a full refund less a $350 cancellation fee. Cancellations made within 4 weeks of the course start are non-refundable. Refunds are not given after any portion of the online material has been accessed. NorthPoint Emergency Training reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the course due to lack of registration while making a refund option available to any currently registered students.
